    It's just off the main road near the Champagne Castle Hotel. The plaques, nailed to the tree (poor tree!) are of elderly people, mostly in their 80's but they span quite a number of years - some are very tarnished and unreadable - the plaques, that is! I meant to ask at the hotel who they were - probably people who lived in the area and loved it's beauty .. and there's now no one left interested enough to tend to it anymore. Would look lovely with some small flowering shrubs that don't need any maintenance.
