I was so delighted to receive a gorgeous bunch of flowers from hubby's cousin when they joined our celebration for his 60th birthday last Sunday ..

... petals perfectly pink ...

... furled from the inside out ...

... with a whiter shade of green ..

... a greener shade of green .... (and must add here .. whenever Connor passes the vase of flowers he says ... "I love green flowers" .. strange child !)

... and a greener shade of white .... (lucky me .. Elaine also gave me a gorgeous bunch of St Joseph lilies !! :)

Is it spring? This yellow weaver thinks so .. one or two warmish days and the birds are busy ....

... still looking up ... I loved this delicate twirly chandelier which hung above our heads at a Winter Wine Evening ...

... back to ground level ... when boys are quiet you wonder what they're up to - I spotted Connor playing on his own in the garden ..

... lining up his cars on the garden bench ..

His cars didn't need batteries ..... but his mommy did ... Jeanette had a power failure at their house the night before a wedding where she was taking photos, so dashed over - in her jarmies -to recharge all the batteries for the camera equipment ..

Finally .. I must add this photo ... taken by a friend last Sunday at my hubby's 60th birthday ...

The other day I took Bradley and Connor to see our friends' puppies ... remember the Jack Russell puppies from five weeks ago when they were just two days old ...

Hi ...

... nothing nicer than starting off the week with a glass ... or two ... of ice cold bubbly ...

.. to celebrate Elaine's new car ...

Fresh eggs in an old ... very old ... really really old bowl ... it belonged to my Granny .. passed down to my Mum ... now I have it !!! I have inherited odd stuff .. a few family heirlooms here and there .... but mainly odd stuff like this !!!!

... and no .. says this Ibis ... the eggs are not mine !!! ....

... definitely NOT !!!!

... whooowhooooo ... a tunnel ahead ...

... boys and their toys ...... strewn everywhere ... this is a normal afternoon in my house !

... sticking stickers on the train ... and the tunnel ..

... and on all the eyes !!!!

A glass of wine? ... I think we need it after all that ....

.. mm .. mmmm ... this is/was a good one!!! I had forgotten I had it in my basket of wines .. well, one of the baskets of wines .... discovered it right at the bottom, covered in dust ... we really need a proper wine rack, I think !!!

Avondale Bio-Logic and Organic Wines in Paarl, Western Cape ... I only picked it up off the shelf (obviously a long time ago!) because of the name .. as children, we used to live in a suburb called Avondale, Salisbury (now Harare) and my younger brother and I went to Avondale School .... way back when !!! All that was in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe and has absolutely nothing to do with Paarl, Western Cape, South Africa !!!!

Hubby and I are flying off to the Cape tomorrow (which happens to be my birthday!) for a few days !!! ... 'bye for now

'Something old ... something new .... '

The sun shone for a very short time yesterday .. yay !!

Connor and I went into the garden for tea/cool drink ... ahh ... lovely .. rubbing bare feet on the thick green lawn and breathing in the fresh warm air ....

I called for Bradley to come outside too ...

"No thank you, Granny .. I'm an indoor kind of person" was his exact reply !!! :) :)



... and this is what he was playing with ...


... this rather 'weather-beaten' wooden garage which belongs to my son Carl .. who played endlessly with it and all his cars when he was Bradley's age .... more than 25 years ago !!!!

Carl would have loved these cars going up and down the ramp and filling the parking bays ...

... 'fast and furious' !!!! His cars were never in this 'prestine' condition .. his were always bashed and battered. He used to make them race each other, then crash together with force !!!! I wonder if that's the reason why he became a paramedic !!!!

Carl will 'inherit' the garage but for now he and Nicole have a daughter, Erin ... a very girly girl who loves 'pink 'everything' ... dresses .... and dollies...

.. but in the meantime it will be 'put to good use'
