Ormonde Castle, Co. Tipperary

Whilst driving through the town of Carrick-on-Suir, a pretty little place in Tipperary, we discovered this 16th Century Manor House. Behind it is the original castle which dates back to the 14th Century. Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormonde added the front section, the Manor House.

Unfortunately, it's only open to the public in summer ... end of September the gates close - just missed it by a few days ....

To the right of the gate is a road which leads to Carrick-on-Suir ...

Camera lens through the bars ....!!

It was so quiet and peaceful with the smell of the recently mown lawns and the sound of the river close by, hidden behind bushes and trees.

  2. It's a long way, to Tipperary! What a beautiful old castle and I'm quite sure it could tell a tale or two! What a pity you couldn't get inside!
